Well it's over- the World Cup that is. What a month it has been. 2, 4 and 6 am starts to watch games before exams and work. Glorious days of triumph when my teams won, and bitter days of disappointment when they didn't. Such an emotional roller coaster, but now at least it's over, and I have time to come to terms with everything that has happened without further upsets.
I'm sure a lot of people feel like this (obviously not any Germans), but it felt like every single team I went for, lost. I was so desperate in the last couple of matches that if I thought reverse psychology would have worked, then I probably would have rooted for the enemy. However, I tried to go for the teams that would bring about the largest net happiness in the world (less developed, larger population countries, etc.)- except of course France and Australia who are my 'home' teams.
As we are who we are, we watched the games in costumes- J a sophisticated french rooster (their national animal), and myself a mixture of all highly stereotypical French things. Because, honestly, who doesn't love drawing a curly mustache on their face with a pencil and watching football?!
Although our teams didn't win, it was an unbelievable month. History made, records and dreams broken, and many many moments perched at the end of the seat in suspense.
